Target Zero required a new website that could seamlessly integrate with their MMC, a completely bespoke course management system built by a third party. There was no technical documentation available, which meant we had to understand and interpret the system ourselves in order to connect with it successfully.
The Solution.
We designed and developed a fully bespoke WordPress website tailored around their business goals. To ensure course information could be displayed accurately, we engineered a custom API connection that communicates directly with the MMC. This allowed us to pull course data into WordPress in a structured and reliable way, despite having to reverse engineer the behaviour of the external system.
The MMC provided live course availability and seat numbers, but because courses could also be purchased through other channels, the data changed constantly. We needed to fetch this information in real time without slowing down the website. With no documentation from the third party system, understanding how the data was stored, structured and accessed required additional investigation and testing. We created a two step data solution.
The Results.
The main course content, such as titles, descriptions and locations, is stored within WordPress and can be updated whenever courses are added, edited or removed. Seat availability is fetched on demand using a separate lightweight function designed solely to retrieve live capacity data without affecting page speed. The end result is a fast, reliable and fully bespoke website that delivers real-time accuracy and smooth functionality while overcoming the limitations of the undocumented third-party system.
